Legal and Identity Protections Benefits Help Employees and Employers

The pandemic has impacted us all in more ways than taking stock in our physical health, causing us to take a closer look at our relationships, finances, and even our career choices. Americans have been quitting their jobs in record numbers and one step employers are taking to help combat this great resignation is to improve their benefit packages.

Companies winning the talent war are offering location flexibility along with competitive compensation packages and comprehensive, customizable benefits that address total well-being. Voluntary legal, identity theft (IDT), and online privacy protection plans help round out benefits packages at little to no cost to employers. Employees can enroll at significantly lower rates than they would incur as direct buyers and obtain the financial and online security needed in today’s socioeconomic landscape.

Even before the pandemic, employees placed significant value on legal and identity theft protection benefits. According to PPLSI’s 2019 Workplace Study nearly 50% of employees felt their employer should offer a legal and IDT benefit and over 60% felt that these benefits would increase their financial well-being.

Benefit Education for Today’s Multi-Generational Workforce

The importance of educating employees on the value of their benefits has never been more important. With many employers feeling the great resignation, they also need to ensure they are meeting the needs and expectations of a diverse workforce. A gen Z employee, fresh out of college, may have different benefit needs for example, then say an employee who is planning on sending their children off to college next fall.

These employees also digest information differently and employers may need to use various communication channels to reach them. It also is important to not just communicate the value of the benefits being offered during the main open enrollment period. Educating employees using various methods throughout the year increases participation and utilization of the benefit.

Legal and IDT benefits provide coverage needed throughout all of life’s stages and we have a suite of LegalShield and IDShield educational product videos that focus on specific topics such as the importance of creating a Will and protecting children from identity theft. These on demand videos highlight the value and provide examples on how employees can use their benefit. We also have educational fliers, break room posters and can even provide live or in-person benefit presentations.

The Importance of an Online Privacy Protection Benefit

Do you know who’s selling your data? That can be a difficult question to answer. Credit reporting bureaus are data brokers, but they’re only the tip of the iceberg. Tech companies, credit card companies, marketing agencies and more mine data for their own use, which also makes them a data broker.

Unfortunately, consumers don’t have much control over their data or personally identifiable information (PII), what’s collected, or who views the information. Data broker practices have a veil of secrecy, yet broker files can have a significant impact on your credit, employment, and even your ability to get life insurance.

With IDShield’s online privacy and reputation management service, participants can learn how to remove their personal information from data broker sites such as Whitepages, Instant Checkmate, Spokeo, among others.

Our online reputation service also allows participants to control their privacy settings across multiple platforms and manage their online reputation on popular social media accounts, including TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
